Alcatel-Lucent ISAM 7342 FTTU

Alcatel-Lucent has more than 80 FTTP customers to date, including over 60 GPON customers; with recent enhancements, the 7342 supports additional performance and service enablers that are likely to separate Alcatel-Lucent further from rivals. (7/2/2008)

 Price: $495

Allied Telesis iMAP 9000 Series
Allied Telesis’s iMAP series supports both active Ethernet and GEPON fiber interfaces, and the company’s IPTV-based strategic alliance IBM and Cisco is compelling, but Allied Telesis is – at best – a peripheral player in the global FTTP market. (6/4/2008)

 Price: $495

Ericsson EDA 1500
Ericsson’s EDA 1500 series features the highest density/scalability and throughput metrics in the FTTP market, and as such is a compelling proposition, but Ericsson still needs to generate customer/market traction for its flagship FTTP platform. (6/4/2008)

 Price: $495

Motorola AXS2200
Motorola has garnered FTTP market traction as the secondary supplier behind Tellabs for Verizon’s initial BPON deployment, but as Verizon and other operators transition to GPON, Motorola’s future in the wireline telco access space is uncertain. (6/4/2008)

 Price: $495

Tellabs 1000/1150 Multi-Service Access (MSA) series
Tellabs remains number one in the North American FTTP market thanks to the Verizon BPON build-out, but the recent termination of its next-generation OLT platform – the 8865 – leaves Tellabs somewhat vulnerable as operators transition to GPON. (6/13/2008)
